Ottis Ray Garner, 62, a resident of the Springfield Community near Morton died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home. Funeral services were held 11 am Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Springfield Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was held 6-9 pm Friday, March 15, 2013 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Bob Smith and Rev. Keith Gordon officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Garner was a native of Scott Co. He was the son of Jesse T. and Edna Marie Cooper Garner. He was married to Gloria Jean Runnels Garner. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #254 F&AM of Morton. Mr. Garner’s hobbies were singing Karaoke, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He loved his family and friends very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse T. and Edna Marie Cooper Garner, sister, Jessie Jo Wall and brother, Thomas Jackie Garner.

Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Garner of Morton; sons, Jason Ray (Gloria) Garner of Morton and Joel Lavon (Michele) Garner of Pelahatchie; brothers, Dalton Lavon (Helen) Garner of Moss Point and Freddy Lamar (Gay) Garner of Morton; sister, Belinda Marie (Billy Paul) Earls of Morton; brother in law, W.C. “Pete” Wall, Jr. of Morton; 2 grandchildren, Hailea Marie Garner and Jacob Dalton Garner of Pelahatchie; 2 step grandchildren, Dusty King of Pelahatchie and Mazie Wittinghill of Morton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Justin Earls, Shannon Earls, Doug Wall, Richie Lott, Jesse Garner and Wilson Garner. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Wayne Burns, Sammy Regions, Dwight Lingle and Howard Street.
