Owen Creslyn White, a faithful servant of God and beloved husband, father, brother, and friend entered into the eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 4th, 2025. He was 87 years old.
Owen was born on September 18,1937 in Neshoba County, Mississippi to Addie Estelle Moore White and Ethan Allen White. After graduating from Zephyr Hill High School in 1955, he attended East Central Community College and later attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1959. After marrying Shirley, they settled in Brandon MS where he worked for the MS Department of Transportation for 6 years. His engineering career later took him to Mississippi Power and Light, now known as Entergy, where he retired after 37 years of service.
Creslyn lived a life full of love, kindness, and faith, touching the hearts of everyone who knew him. Throughout his life, Creslyn remained devoted to his Christian faith, serving in his church and community. He served with the Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief Task Force for 10 years, including mission trips to Mexico and Moscow. His community service was honored in 1968 as Brandon’s outstanding young man of the year by the local Jaycee Chapter. He also served in the US Naval Reserves. His unwavering faith in God and his compassionate spirit were evident in every interaction. He was a true example of Christ’s love, always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear.
Creslyn’s love for his family and friends was boundless. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was a constant source of support, encouragement, and prayer for his family and his presence will be deeply missed.
Creslyn is preceded in death by his father, Ethan White and his mother, Addie White. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Kelly White, sons Owen Randall (Jolyne), Richard Kelly (Christy), Michael Anthony (Amanda) and daughter Alison Monroe (Kevin). He is also survived by beloved siblings Faye White Richardson, Morgan Lyndolph White, Tina White Matheney, Douglas MacArthur White, and Mary Lou White Thornton. Creslyn also shared a wonderful legacy with 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. who will carry on his memory with love and gratitude.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7th at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon, MS from 5-7pm. Tuesday, April 8th at 10am, a pre-service visitation will be held with a celebration of life service at 11am, both at First Baptist Church of Brandon- College Street campus. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Gardens, Brandon MS. Memorial donations in honor of Creslyn can be made to First Baptist Church of Brandon-Building committee.
We take comfort in knowing that Creslyn (Paw) is now in the presence of the Lord, and we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We will hold him in our hearts until we are reunited with him in Heaven. The family is so grateful to the many caregivers that have devoted time and care to him during this time- Covenant Caregivers, Highland Home, Pax Hospice and precious Christian brothers and sisters of First Baptist Church of Brandon.
