Pamela Whaley Cook, 70, of Brandon, Mississippi passed away Saturday October 5, 2024 with family by her side. She was born April 11, 1954 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Jane and Dwinton “Don” Stringer. Pam grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1972. After graduating from Mississippi State University, she pursued her life’s calling as a school teacher. Her extensive teaching career in Quitman, Pelahatchie, and Morton influenced the lives of many fortunate children. After retirement, she enjoyed living on “The Rez” with her husband, Randy, where they enjoyed the sunset every night the weather permitted. She was known for her baking skills and provided birthday cakes for many children in Quitman over the years. Her baking skills extended to a wide range of cookies, especially her famous Christmas tree cookies. Pam was extraordinarily kind to everyone she met, offering comfort with her warm and loving spirit.
Pam was an active member of Brandon First Methodist Church, where she worked at Mother’s Day Out and volunteered with Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of the Joy Sunday school class. Pam was a lifelong disciple of Christ. Each morning, she spent time reading scripture while journaling her prayers. The Lord used her to spread His love and shine His light to all who knew her.
Pam is survived by her children, Brian Whaley, Patrick Whaley (Shirley), Sarah Keb (P.J.), and Rachel Zabaldano (Daniel); her grandchildren, Mason, Aubrey, Jackson, and David; her husband, Randy Cook; and his three children, Amy Bryant, Ashley Clark, and Adam Cook; and her sisters, Betty Sue Stringer and Cindy Shepherd (Fred).
Visitation will be at Brandon First Methodist Church from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. In honor of Pam's love for bright colors, the family has requested that the friends wear something bright and cheerful to her service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's of Mississippi online at https://www.umc.edu/Development/How/Funds/Childrens.html or by mail to 2500 N. State St., Jackson, MS 39216.
