Pat Allen Sorey

November 18, 1937 — December 22, 2015

Funeral services for Mr. Pat Allen Sorey will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 24, 2015 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with the Rev. Tim Sorey and Rev. Maxine Jenkins officiating.

The eulogy will be delivered by Mr. Don Harris.

Music will be provided by Miss Raven McGowan.


Interment will follow in the Carr Methodist Cemetery in Smith County under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until 10:45 am prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.


Pat Allen Sorey was born at Pineville on November 18, 1937 and passed away at his home December 22, 2015 at the age of 78.


A native of Smith County and proud of the fact that he was from Pineville, Mr. Sorey was a simple man. Talking to folks and whistling were two characteristics that he will be remembered for. Known among the community and abroad for his love for horses and horseback riding, he treasured his membership in the Appaloosa Horse Club. Traveling, camping, and trail riding were favorite pass times. Mr. Pat was a member of the Pineville Methodist Protestant Church.


He was preceded in death by parents: Dennis W. & Ina Stennett Sorey; one sister: Carolyn Sorey; and two brothers: Bill Sorey and Ralph Sorey; and one step grandson: Johnny Wayne Moore.


He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Mrs. Julia T. Sorey of Pineville; two step-sons: Prentiss Wayne (Linda) Moore of Pulaski and Kirby (Gloria) Moore of Homewood; two sisters: Neva Laseter of Pearl and Annie Parker of Stringer; five step grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Dennis Sorey, Perry Sorey, Wayne Parker, Cal Laseter, Daniel Scott, and Billy Joe Keeton.


Honorary Pallbearers will be Don & Peggy Harris, Kevin & Vickey Blakeney, Ron & Mary Robinson, Tommy Joe Elzie, Jay Benson Hill, Kirby Moore and Joe Talley.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carr Methodist Cemetery Fund.
