Patrick Provine Slocumb, 59, passed away Fri. Jan. 20, 2012 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held Sun. Jan. 22, 2012 from 4pm.-6pm. and Mon. Jan. 23, 2012 from 10am.-10:45am. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am. Mon. Jan. 23, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Edwards Cemetery.

Patrick graduated Wingfield High school in 1971. His occupational background was in sales, until at age 50, he entered nursing school and obtained an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse Degree). He worked at Blair Batson Children’s Hospital where he loved caring for the children. All of his patients held a special place in his heart. Patrick also worked as a nurse at Hospice Ministries where he said it was not a job, but a calling to minister to those patients with a terminal illness along with their family members.

Pat has been a member at First Baptist Church in Brandon, MS since 1994. He was a member of Paul Baggett’s Sunday School Class and volunteered nearly every year at vacation bible school as a nurse. He enjoyed working in his yard and maintained one of the prettiest lawns in the neighborhood. Winter time was spent planning for spring projects for the yard. He especially looked forward to the garden shows and planting new flowers and shrubs.

He is survived by his wife Kay Slocumb of Brandon; daughter, Madeline Blayne Weisenberger (Thad) of Clinton; sons, Patrick Bryce Slocumb of Clinton and Jerald Brett Sanders (Valerie) of Brandon; grandchildren, Conner Scott Sanders and Emily Paige Sanders both of Brandon and Olivia Kate Weisenberger of Clinton; sister, Sally Harrison of Gluckstadt and a brother, Mike Slocumb (Cathy) of Lookout Mountain, TN.
