Patti Hughes Burnham, 70, of Brandon, has finally achieved victory over the ALS and Alzheimer’s she fought so hard against, with her loving family by her side. As of Monday, March 25, 2024, she enjoys her new home with her Savior, whom she adored for a lifetime, but leaves behind a loving husband and three stepchildren to join her later.
Graveside visitation will be held on Friday, March 29th at 2 PM, with services to follow at 3 PM at Crestview Memorial Gardens, 1106 Star Rd, Brandon, MS.
Patti was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on January 11, 1954, but lived most of her young life in Birmingham, Alabama, attending Woodlawn Magnet High School. She graduated from The University of Alabama, was a loyal Alabama football fan, and was a Mensa member. She formed, owned, and managed her own advertising agency where she was dynamic, smart, ambitious, energetic, enthusiastic, and unstoppable earning a place in the Top 40 under 40 business women of Mississippi. Patti loved music of all kinds and served twice as president of the Jackson Symphony League, setting records for fundraising. She was a published author and a bereavement counselor for many years. She founded Intentional Friends Ministries, a non-profit bereavement ministry, and had a special gift for comforting others. Patti excelled in her studies and particularly in her study of God's Word, of which, through her daily devotionals, she reached thousands of people.
She is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Sidney McLaurin Burnham, Jr.; stepson, Sidney ‘Si’ McLaurin Burnham, III; stepson, Joshua Lowry Burnham; and stepdaughter, Maggie Rosalie Burnham, all of Brandon, Mississippi; her sister, Vicki Etheridge (Tim) of Foley, Alabama; and sister, Toni Deaver (John), of Hollywood, California, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents, Davey Lee Hughes, Sr., and Flora Jean Martin Hughes preceded her in death, along with her brother Davey.
