Paul Douglas Arender, 85, Brandon, MS, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 10, 2017, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church in Brandon. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Larry Duncan, Rev. Marion Spence and Rev. Donnie Stuart will officiate the services.
Mr. Arender was a native of Smith County, MS. He was the son of Hulon Leslie Arender and Estelle Sullivan Arender. He was also a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member and served as a deacon for many years.
Paul was a farmer in the Antioch community for many years where he raised poultry and produced hay for the public. He took great pride in his farming and well known for his beautiful hay fields he grew and baled. Mr. Arender was also a member of the United States Navy and proudly served his country. He deeply loved his family and spending time with them brought great joy to his life.
Mr. Arender was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtis Layton Arender; son, Barry Vaughn Arender; parents, Hulon and Estelle Arender; seven siblings, Leslie Arender, Donald Ray Arender, Mary Beth Hendricks, Dimple Jones, Alice Anding, Lanelle Ashley and Daisy Wood.
Mr. Arender is survived by his children, Alan F. (Alesia) Arender, Norma J. (John) Littich; three granddaughters, Cheryl Arender (Ric) Peden, Meredith Littich (Josh) Brantley and Morgan Autumn Littich; three great grandchildren, Ainsleigh Elizabeth Audrey Peden, Alyssa Brooklyn Grace Peden and Ty Alan Peden; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mississippi Care Center of Morton and Homecare Hospice of Jackson. Your care, compassion and kindness will be forever etched in our memory. We appreciate each of you and so thankful that our dad was shown such love and grace.
