Paul Dewey “Pete” Barnes, 85, lived at Eagle Lake, Vicksburg, MS of 30 years. Pete was born in Ludlow, MS on June 19, 1937, to Dan Emanuel Barnes and Grace Anna Prestage Barnes. Visitation will be 1pm until 3pm Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Services will be at 3pm in the chapel, with burial to follow in Allen’s Chapel Cemetery.
Paul joined the National Guard as a young man and has worked at different jobs as he was a jack of all trades. He was a truck driver and auto mechanic, during his youth. Then he worked for Packard Electric for 27 years, he also worked as a maintenance mechanic and later a supervisor. Paul was liked by everyone he met, and he was blessed to have many friends.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia Lockwood Barnes of 58 years, they were married on June 20, 1964. Paul had two sons, Paul Barnes, Jr. who passed away on July 7, 2017, and Charles Keven Barnes of North Port, FL; two granddaughters, Brittany Barnes and Megan Barnes; six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Dot Barnes of Lena, MS, Matthew and Kathy Barnes of Brandon, MS, Jack and Peggy Barnes of Lena, MS, and Joy and Lois Barnes of Brandon, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike McCune, Matthew Cory, Shannon McCune, Sam Barnes, Dan Barnes, and mark Barnes.
