Paul Harmon

May 16, 1925 — February 23, 2016

Mr. Paul Murphy Harmon, age 90, passed away at his place of residence on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Funeral Services were held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, with the Rev. Aaron Wood and Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Visitation services were held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

Mr. Murphy was born to the parents of John Alps and Tennie "Goodson" Harmon on May 16, 1925 in Pineville, MS. He was a member the Still Blessed Worship Center in Morton, MS. Mr. Paul loved playing dominoes especially with this grandchildren, he loved being the outdoors and listening to bluegrass gospel music. Mr. Harmon loved spending time with his family and he always tried to make you smile. The family mentioned that he was a big prankster and enjoyed pulling pranks very much. He also loved hunting and fishing and tinkering on things along with working on vehicles. Mr. Paul also liked watching wrestling and westerns on television.

Mr. Murphy Harmon is preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Logan Harmon; three sons, Paul Murphy Harmon, Jr., Ricky Harmon, and Kenneth Harmon; his, parents John Alps Harmon and Tennie "Goodson" Harmon; and all of his siblings.

He is survived by his ten children, seven daughters, Rita Strachan (James-deceased) of Pearl MS, Louise Davis (Red) of Morton MS, Jo Ann Jones (Willie-deceased) of Jackson MS, Patricia Hall (Raymond) of Forest MS, Sandra Bowman of Pelahatchie MS, Glenda Harmon of Pearl MS, Connie Gilmore (Wayne) of Florence MS; and three sons, Johnny Harmon (Joan) of Morton MS, Randall Harmon of Brandon MS, and Ronnie Harmon of Morton MS. Also survived by thirty-one grandchildren, sixty-five great grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren; and a hosts of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Scotty Harmon, Kevin Bowman, Robert Jones, Jessie Holmes, Ricky Harmon, Billy Stewart and serving as honorary pallbearers were Johnny Porter, Randy Bourque, and James Harmon.

Those who would like to make memorial gift in lieu of flowers may make those gifts to the American Cancer Society in honor of Mr. Paul Murphy Harmon.

Funeral services were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
