Pauline Whitaker Shedd, 94, died at home Sunday, January 29, 2012, following a short illness. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Monday, January 30, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, Mississippi. Funeral services were 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 31, in the Ott and Lee chapel, followed by burial in the Rehobeth Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Rick Hammerstrom and Rev. Joseph Oster officiated the services.
Mrs. Shedd was born on August 13, 1917 in Scott Co., Mississippi, the daughter of Paul and Flay Tadlock Whitaker. She and her late husband, W. T. Shedd, along with their four children, lived in the Rehobeth community for most of their lives, where she was a loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. Blessed with relatively good health, Mrs. Shedd enjoyed doing ceramics and puzzles, and still cooked breakfast every morning for any of the family who dropped by. In her active years she taugh Sunday school and served faithfully in the Rehobeth Baptist Church. She was active in her community lending a helping hand to those in need. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shedd was preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy and Paul Ray Shedd, sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Thompson (the late Hilton Thompson), her son, Tommy Shedd (Linda), 10 grandchildren, Bill Shedd, Terry Shedd McNeece, Donna Shedd Childers, Patrick Thompson, Pippi Thompson Lick, Brad Shedd, Wendell Shedd, Rebecca Shedd, Cody Shedd and Renee Nelson, 18 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
