Mrs. Betty Pauline Franklin Smith, age 85 passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Hospice Ministries in Madison, MS. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the New Liberty Baptist Church in Morton, MS with Bro. Paul Smith officiating. Visitation was held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Interment was held at the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery following the services.
Mrs. Pauline Smith was born on June 27, 1931 in Rankin County to her parents Margel and Levie Thompson Franklin. She was a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church in Morton and was a member of the Hope Ministries there. She loved going to church and being a vital part of the ministry there at the church. She loved to cook especially for her family and loved keeping her grand babies. She enjoyed gardening, playing dominoes and Mexican Train was one of her favorites. Pauline also loved watching John Hagee on television and she loved watching all of her favorite western shows. She enjoyed all kinds of shopping and going to the beauty parlor. She loved her family and friends very much and being around them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Margel and Levie Franklin; her husband Myrtis Lee Smith; her son, Roger Smith; her brother, Paul B. Franklin; her brother in law, Robert Heard.
Pauline is survived by her son, Mike (Danette) Smith of Morton, MS; her sisters, Lillie (Floyd) Parker of Leesburg, MS and Margie Heard of Arlington, TX; her three sister-in-law's, Sarah Franklin of Pearl, MS, Laverne Ivy of Branch, MS and Francis Smith of Branch, MS; her daughter-in-law, Shelia Smith of Pearl, MS; her four grandchildren, Amanda (Russell) Newman, Tracey (Joshua) Evans, Zach Smith, Kaitlee Smith; her four great-grandchildren, Connor Mullins, Pepper Newman, Vesper Newman, Teagan Evans; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Joe Bell, Wilbur McCurdy, Bruce Mills, Teddy Anthony, John Robert Irby, Frank McCurdy; and serving as honorary pallbearers, Zach Smith, Connor Mullins, Joshua Evans, and Russell Newman.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Morton.
