Paul Stephens Woods, 91, of Brandon went to be with his heavenly Father on January 22, 2016, at the VA Medical Center. Paul was born in Hattiesburg, MS, to Albert and Jessie Davenport Woods and was reared in Glendale.
During World War II, Paul served stateside in the Marine Corps as an airplane mechanic. He graduated from Mississippi Southern College (USM). He was a Master Mason. Paul was retired from selling cleaning chemicals and various equipment/services to crop dusters.
Paul was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Jackson (now Clinton) for over 33 years. Since 1994 he has been a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Edith Webster Woods; his parents; brothers, John, Albert, Sam, Nathan, Jim and Bob; and sisters, Mildred Sillman, Ola May Easterling and Blanche Ramsey. He is survived by his son, Alex P. Woods and daughter, Debbie Woods, all of Brandon; sisters, Doris Ray of Bay St. Louis and Elizabeth Bullock of Hattiesburg; sister-in-law, Chellie Woods Boone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Park Place Baptist Church from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on January 30th with the service at 1:00 pm.
According to his wishes, Paul’s body was donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for medical research and his ashes will later be entombed at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
