Peter William Larson, 74, of Brandon, MS, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Due to the current pandemic, a private graveside service will be held to honor Pete’s Life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon.
Pete was born in Columbus, OH, on September 13, 1945, to Elmer and Charlotte Larson. He and Janice were married March 8, 1997.
He grew up in a Navy family and most of the time in Millington, Tennessee. He was most fond of the time he and his brother spent hunting squirrels and shooting dragonflies for target practice. He graduated from Millington High School in TN in 1961. He, amongst his brother and lifelong friend, Bob Mashburn, were honored several years ago for their football team’s accomplishments at Millington Central High School. He attended both Memphis State University and Middle Tennessee State University. He graduated with a degree in Forestry from Middle Tennessee and while attending MTSU, he was part of the shooting team. He served in the Air Force and from 1968 – 1970 and did a tour in Vietnam.
Pete worked as a plywood and veneer salesman and established a successful business, Larson & Company. In addition to his business he would talk about his successes and ventures as a sponsored Bass Pro fisherman for Allison Boat Co. and Skeeter. The adventure of life was never ending for Pete, until he could venture no more. He was an avid sportsman that lived by his own motto of “be sure to always do something you love”. No matter the number of trophies won or turkey grand slams, he continued to pursue his love for hunting and fishing, while teaching and learning tricks of the trade along the way. He shared his gift and ability with his nephews who have many wonderful memories and lifelong skills to remember him by.
Pete will be greatly missed by his wife, Janice (Jeffcoat) Larson; mother, Charlotte Larson; sister, Karen(Trygve) Honaas; daughters, Rachel (Aaron) Boland and Margaret (Jason) Hinrichs; stepdaughter, Stacy Schneeflock; grand-daughter, Mary Elizabeth Boland; nieces and nephews, and the many great friends that will always be “family”. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Larson; and his brother, Mark Larson.
In honor of Pete and his fight to live life to the fullest, his family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation at parkinsonhope.org.
