Phillip George Shaw, Sr., 76, a resident of Byram, MS went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his home in Byram, MS. Visitation is Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 5 – 8 pm and Wednesday, December 16, 2015 beginning at 9:30 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon with burial to follow in Lorena Baptist Church Cemetery in Smith County, MS.
Phillip G. Shaw was born on February 2, 1939 in Harperville, MS to the late Owen Shaw and Lela Novella Stewart Shaw. He was a construction worker for many years. He was a former resident of Jackson, MS and had lived in Byram for the past seven years. He was a Baptist.
Phillip Shaw was a wonderful man who loved all his family dearly. He was a man of God foremost and was a man with a kind and loving heart. He always had a kind word and a personality that could light up any room. In his final days, his wish was to leave Baptist Hospital’s AICU and go home to be with family and pass on to Heaven in peace with the Lord Jesus Christ, and he did just that. He will be missed by all.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Gloria Simmons and Phil Leon Shaw; a grandchild, Brandy Scarbrough and husband, Matthew Scarbrough; and two brothers, Richard Shaw and Buford Shaw.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hattie Shaw of Byram, MS; his daughter, Linda Alexander of Jackson, MS; his son, Phillip George Shaw, Jr (Amy) of Byram, MS; one brother, James Shaw (Ann) of Forest, MS; three granddaughters, Wendy Ramage (Jason), Gloria Deann Shaw, and Katelynn Shaw; four great-grandchildren, Destinee Story, Haiden Scarbrough, Hunter Scarbrough, and Skyler Ramage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
