Phyllis Carol Morrow, 67, wife, longtime teacher, and beloved grandmother, went to be with her heavenly Father in the early morning of Saturday, March 30, 2024.
A Celebration of Phyllis’s Life will be Thursday, April 4, 2024, 1:00pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Burial Will follow in Puckett Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and again on Thursday from 12:00pm until 12:45pm.
Phyllis spent her teaching career loving young people and giving her heart to the children in her classes. She touched many lives from Lewisville, (Texas) to Jackson Public Schools, where she spent sixteen years, to Brandon Elementary School before she retired. Even after retiring as a fulltime teacher, she served as a substitute teacher and put the same effort in making every student that she came across feel loved. She deeply cared about every student that she came across as demonstrated by the hundreds of texts that have come in after her passing.
She was devoted to her husband Jeff for the 40 years of their marriage and was indeed his best friend.
As a grandmother, she had a deep love and connection that her grandchildren, Gavin Reese (as she always called him) and Lucy Grace will feel for the rest of their lives. They always knew that they were special when they were with their "GiGi".
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jeff, as well as her son Ryne, daughter Lauren and her husband Stan, brother Jeffrey Herrington of Dallas, Texas, grandchildren Gavin Reese and Lucy Grace.
She is preceded in death by her father Thurman Herrington of Tyler, Texas and her mother Pansy Nabors Joyce of Cooper, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate in Phyllis' name to the Children’s of Mississippi Hospital, Blair E. Batson Tower, 2500 N. State St., Jackson, MS 39216 or St. Jude Children's Research Center.
