Preston Nick

We at Ott and Lee are heartbroken for the loss of our dear coworker.

Preston Lee Nick was born January 14, 1962, to Percy Burks and Leona Nick in Scott County, MS.  He passed away September 29, 2023, in Forest, MS where he resided until his death.

Preston attended school at Sebastopol Attendance Center in Sebastopol, MS and Scott Central Attendance Center. At an early age he attended Union Grove United Methodist Church in Forest, MS and on August 6, 2017, was baptized by Rev. Reggie Tatum.  He began working at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in 2008 and remained there until his death.  He loved his family and his entire Ott & Lee family and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Burks; his mother, Leona Nick; five brothers and two sisters. 

Preston leaves to cherish his memory, four sisters, Ruby (James) Burks of Union, MS; Bobbie Townsend of Decatur, MS; Macy (James) Loper of Lake, MS; and Daisy Patrick of Forest, MS; four brothers, Ray Charles Nick of Union, MS; Levester Burks, Tim Burks and Wiley Burks of Forest, MS; two special aunts, Katie Lee Burks an Mattie Futch of Forest, MS; two uncles, Darnell Nick of Forest, MS and Albert Nick of Hisperia, CA; a very special friend, Tameka Harper of Jackson, MS; three grandchildren; friend, Billy Patrick of Forest, MS.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
