Proby Gammill, Sr.

A celebration of life for Mr. Proby L. Gammill, Sr. will begin at 12:30 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will follow at the interment at the MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Newton under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until 12:00 pm prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Proby Lee Gammill, Sr. was born in Franklin County on November 23, 1936 and passed away at the V.A. Nursing Home in Jackson on February 5, 2019 at the age of 82.

He will be remembered for his Christian faith and his example as a devoted and loving father. He served in the MS Army National Guard for 42 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents: A.D. & Maudie Bell Whittington Gammill, Sr., and one brother: Dr. C. Herschel Gammill.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Mrs. Lucille Gammill of Lawrence; two children: Proby L. (Judy) Gammill of Lawrence and Keith (Sandy) Gammill of Lafayette, LA; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: A.D. (Diane) Gammill, Jr. of Columbia, and Billy (Sandy) Gammill of Canton, OH; one sister-in-law: Gail Gammill of Canton, OH;  several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers,  memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project of Mississippi, 1357 Wade Patrick Rd, Brandon, MS 39042.
