R A Brooks, 92, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Madden Lighthouse. Visitation is 5-8 pm Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Services are 11 am Monday at the funeral home with burial in Cash Cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Brooks was a lifelong resident of Lena and was a longtime member of Lena Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a Former Manager and Board Member of Merchants and Farmers Bank in Lena. Mr. Brooks loved working on his farm, was a World War II Veteran of the Merchant Marines/ Coast Guard and a Mason for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Brooks in 2010.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Elkins of Lena, Terri Sloan (Bruce) of Bay Springs, Jackie Watkins (Dale) of Lena and Dale Sessums (Max) of Puckett; brother, Wiley Brooks of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Adam Sloan, Courtney Elkins Rigby, Sami Elkins Reynolds, Cody Watkins, Ryan Sessums, Haley Watkins, Dylan Watkins and Grant Sessums; great grandchildren, Gabriel Ray Sloan and Ella Brooks Rigby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
