Rachel Lively Sledge, 44, was released to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, June 01, 2011 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. Visitation is 5-9 pm today at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and 8:30 am Friday at First Baptist Church East Campus in Brandon. Services are 10 am Friday at the church with burial in New Brandon Cemetery.
Rachel was an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Pelahatchie and a former member of First Baptist Church in Brandon. Her first love after her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ were her two children, Brandon and Shelby. She devoted her life to loving and caring for them each and every day.
Rachel was a graduate of Brandon High School, Mississippi College with a degree in education and also received a teaching certificate from Belhaven College. God gifted her as a teacher and she used those gifts as a kindergarten teacher at Puckett Attendance Center. She loved all of her “babies” that came through her classroom and that love was returned by those children and their parents.
Survivors include her son, Brandon Sledge of Puckett and daughter, Shelby Sledge of Puckett; parents, Roy and Penny Lively of Brandon; brother, Greg Lively and wife Lynda Thomas Lively of Rogers, Arkansas; nieces, Mary Beth and Anna Blake Lively of Rogers, Arkansas.
Memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund or Continuing the Legacy Building Fund at First Baptist Church Brandon.
