Ralph Eugene Heck

Ralph Eugene Heck, 91, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at home under the care of hospice, after suffering a recent stroke and after a long battle of Alzheimer’s.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:30 p.m. Monday, October 31 and 11 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, November 1, 2016, all at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Flowood, Mississippi.
He was born on August 31, 1925 in Shirley, Illinois to Luther Heck and Lennie Woodward Heck.
He lived in Illinois, where he farmed and drove trucks. He served in the Army during World War II. He also spent a short time living in New Mexico, where he did carpentry work and was an auctioneer. He returned to Illinois in 1963 where he continued to farm and drive trucks. In August, 1967, he moved to Durant, Mississippi, continuing to farm and drive trucks. He retired in 1990, and continued to live in Lexington, Mississippi with his wife Jeanette, until 2010 when he moved to Flowood, Mississippi. He loved being outside, farming, horses, cattle, and watching westerns particularly Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
He is preceded in death by his by his loving wife Jeanette , his parents; four brothers, Tom Heck, Dean Heck, Gordon Heck and Homer Heck and one sister, Mary Rice. He is also preceded in death by a step-son, Danny Ferriter
Survivors include sons Paul Heck of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tom Heck of Albuquerque, New Mexico, daughters Beverly Heck of Albuquerque New Mexico, and Kitty Goss (Ronnie) of Brandon Mississippi; stepson Stephen Ferriter (Cathy) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; Grandsons Justin Heck (Alice) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Zacharey Goss of Brandon, Mississippi, step-grand-daughter Courtney Ferriter of Auburn, Alabama, and Step grandson Josh Goss (Jeannie) of Cleveland, Mississippi; Great Grand-daughter, Alexis Heck, Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters Fern McKinley (Robert) Farmer City Illinois and Carol Collier Farmer City Illinois. His immediate nephews, Jon Atteberry of Marietta Georgia, Jeff Collier (Jeanette) of Bloomington Illinois; nieces, Pam Rice of Bloomington, Illinois, Jaymee McAlister (Todd) of Lincoln, Illinois, several great nephews and nieces. He also is survived by several brother and sister in laws, as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Frank, Joseph Hinderliter, Ronnie Goss, Zacharey Goss, Josh Goss, and Kevin Champney.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and a special thanks to the following medical providers: Jason Hicks and staff at Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Ridgeland; Dr. Nicole Cleveland, Dr. Michael McMullen, Dr. Phillip Chustz, and a special thanks to Dr. Ruth Fredericks for her care and treatment over the years, as well as all the staff of St. Dominic Hospital, and Gentiva Hospice. The family would also like to extend their thanks and gratitude to his friend and care giver Ms. Genine Stewart over the last several years.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to one of the following Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Association, or St. Dominic Hospital.
