Thurman "Ray" Morris passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Visitation is 5-7pm Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS, with a memorial service to follow at 7pm in the chapel.
Ray was born in Jackson, MS to the late Virgie Mae Byrd and Quitman Thurman Morris on March 19, 1949 as an only child. He joined the Marine Corp upon graduation from Florence High School, earning the Purple Heart during his tour in Vietnam as a staff sergeant.
He will be remembered for his enormous sense of humor, his smile filled every room with light and laughter. Ray welcomed everyone into his heart and his family and had enormous love for his country.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 891 where he was an over the road driver for 30 years with McLean and Yellow Freight. Also, a mason with the Richland Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his loving wife, Madelyn Ruth Morris; his children, Monica(Troy) Barron of Gonzales, LA and Tiffany Morris of Madison, MS; their mother Barbara Morris, along with his pride and joy grandchildren, Brooke Barron,Brayden Cline, Ava, Ella, Audrey, Madeline and Will Alexander; his two stepsons, Patrick and Stephen Alexander and extended family, the Stevenson’s.
He will also be dearly missed by his four legged furry kids, Lulu, Lucky and Madison.
