Rev. Jerry Russell Sanders, age 75, died Tuesday February 10, 2015 at the University Medical Center in Jackson following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 11am Thursday February 12, 2015 from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Luther Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Wednesday February 11, 2015. Rev. Harold Schmidt and Rev. Sally Fran Ross officiated. Special music was
provided by Rhesie Hughes and Stacy Wells, accompanied by Irene Martin.
He was born in Graniteville, S.C. on July 31, 1939 to his parents Grady H. Sanders and Evie Maroney Sanders. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1964. Rev. Sanders was a Lutheran pastor serving at Luther Chapel Lutheran Church in Pulaski prior to his retirement. He had also worked at Wal-Mart. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Emogene Sanders of Morton, two children; Michael C Sanders (Teresa) and Stacey Sanders Hughes (Rhesie) all of Pulaski, two sisters; Kathy Whisenant (Steve) of North Augusta, S.C. and Elanor Dooly (Tom) of Spartanburg, S.C. He also leaves a legacy of four grandchildren; Anna Bell (Timmy), Amy Hughes, Alexa Hughes, Brittney Harris (Mitch Kuhn) and three great-grandchildren; Skylar Kuhn, Brayden Kuhn and Kinzie Bell.
Pallbearers were: Stan Gaskin, Mitch Kuhn, Vince Windham, Willie Earl Harrison, Ricky Warren and Clayton Abel.
