Luther Mac Hart was born July 24, 1925 and went to be with his heavenly father along with his earthly father, mother, sister, brother, and grandchild on July 15, 2014. He grew up in the New Zion community and finished school at Harrisville High School. He joined the Armed Forces for 2 years. He then married his wife, Bobbye Ree Wooley, of now 67 years, and they started their ministry journey together. They served a total of 16 charges with a total of 43 churches included throughout his 41 years of ministry. During their ministry, they started a family to join them with the oldest being Luroy, followed by Dathan, then Hope, and the youngest being Sam. Health reasons forced him to take disability but after retiring he was able to do some part time ministry. They then moved to Richland, MS and made their home. They have been residents there for 38 years which is where they participated in the local church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Archie Sr. and Wilred Barlow Hart; brother, Archie Hart Jr.; sister, Minnie Geneva Hart; and grandchildren, John Thomas Sykes Jr. and baby Hart. Survivors include wife of 67 years, Bobbye Ree Hart of Richland, MS; sons, Luroy (Terry) Hart of Morton, MS, Dathan Hart of Baton Rouge, LA, and Sam Hart of Ridgeland, MS; daughter, Hope Thompson of Mount Olive, MS; granddaughters Brandi (Jason) Bryant and Sara Hart; grandson, Franklin (Natalie) Hart; great grandchildren, Elisa Bryant, Kaleigh Bryant, Isabella Bryant and Phillip Hart; nieces, nephews and friends.
Through God’s love, much friendship and support has carried them through the journey. Memorials may be made to the Retired Ministers Fund, 320A Briarwood Dr. Jackson, MS, 39206 Attn: David Scott and First United Methodist Church of Richland’s building fund.
Funeral Services were held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11 am at First United Methodist Church in Richland, MS with Rev. James Twiner and Rev. Hobson Toney officiating. Pallbearers were Diane Croxton, Billy Watkins, Bobby J. Arender, Jim King, Linda M. Slade, Harry Slade, Jim Buckley, and John Addy. All United Methodist Ministers were honorary pallbearers.
