Rev. Richard W. Forsythe, 85, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Lackey Hospital in Forest. Visitation is 5-8 pm Thursday and 12 noon Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Services are 2 pm Friday at the funeral home with a 2 pm Saturday graveside at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Corinth. There will also be a visitation at 9 am Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Corinth.

Rev. Forsythe was born October 4, 1929 in Corinth to James M. and Marie Forsythe. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church International for 46 years serving in different capacities, including Presbyter and was a member of the District Board for fifteen years. Rev. Forsythe pastored churches in Ripley, Marks, Meridian, Burnsville, Forest and Evangelized for several years before his retirement in 2004. He had erected a new Edifice in Forest where he pastored for 29 ½ years (serving 2 terms) and left the church free from any debt.

Rev. Forsythe loved public discussions and was successful in many of them. He loved music and was a noted trumpet player, singer and was an avid quail hunter. In 1960 he was converted from a jazz band to a Minister of the Gospel and in 2009 he became a member of the World Wide Pentecostal Fellowship. He was currently a member of Pine Grove Pentecostal Church in Sebastopol.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Doris Perry. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Martha Jean; son, Monty Forsythe (Bobbie) of Forest and Greg Forsythe of Ridgeland; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
