Rev. Selby McManus, Jr., 88, a resident of Peachtree Village, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon. Visitation is 6-8 pm Wednesday and 1 pm Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 2:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home with a 10 am Friday graveside at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, LA.
Rev. McManus was a native of Louisiana and a resident of Rankin County for the past nine years moving from North Carolina. He retired as an Assemblies of God Minister after 55 years and served seven churches during his ministry. Rev. McManus had served as Prison Chaplain at Parchman State Prison for five years and was also a World War II Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary McManus of Brandon; daughters, Colleen Lee (William) of Brandon and Marilyn Jones (James) of Morton; sons, Dr. Ron McManus (Joan) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Gary McManus (Mary Lynn) of Hattiesburg; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
