VISITATION: 2-5 PM SUNDAY AT OTT AND LEE IN BRANDON AND 11 AM MONDAY
Rev. William Grover Patrick, 89, entered into the gates of Heaven after an extended illness. Visitation is 2-5 pm Sunday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 1 pm Monday at the funeral home with burial in Lakewood South Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Patrick of Scott County; sisters, Mary Frances Patrick and Sally Williams and brothers, Johnny Patrick and Elmer Gray Patrick.
Rev. Patrick was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific under General MacArthur where he earned the Bronze Star, APTO Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He loved the Lord and witnessed every chance he got. He also loved gardening and selling his produce and was often referred to as the “Sweet Potato Man”. Other hobbies included bird hunting with his baby brother Elmer, and he also loved to fish, especially when he was catching the most. Rev. Patrick loved his family and worked very hard to provide for them.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, May Ola Smith Patrick of Jackson; daughter, Rita Carey (Thomas) of Jackson; son, William Timothy Patrick (Polly) of Morton; sister, Delitha Cook (Pete) of Puckett; 3 granddaughters, 4 grandsons; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephew and friends. Rev. Patrick had a very special friend, his puppy Gus.
