Richard Thomas "Dicky" Binford

Richard Thomas “Dicky” Binford passed away September 17, 2023, in Jackson, MS at the age of 67. Richard was born on February 11, 1956, in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late LLoyd T. Binford and Frances Bolton Binford.

Richard had fond memories of his childhood growing up in Tupelo.  His favorite memories were spending time with his grandfather at Rosealba near Pontotoc, MS.

Richard graduated from The McCallie School for Boys in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1974, and he attended both Tulane and Ole Miss. Richard was fluent in French and he spent a good deal of time living in France in his younger years as part of a cultural learning program.

Richard had a passion for travel, especially travel involving planes and trains. His favorite destinations were Honolulu, HI and Greenbrier, WV. He was a great animal lover and  his dogs always brought him such joy in life.

While Richard's life was filled with mistakes and far from perfect, in his last few years he found a wonderful church community with Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS where he finally made the decision to totally and completely surrender his life to the Lord. Richard’s family will forever be thankful for the help and support the members gave Richard in the last few years as his health began to decline.

Richard is survived by his sisters Diane Callender and Harriet Garrison, nephews John Callender, Lee Callender, Robert Garrison, Bryan Callender and many great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richard's name to Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS.

There will be a visitation 1:30 -2:30pm on Saturday, December 23, 2023, with a memorial service following at 2:30pm at Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS.
