Visitation is 5-7 pm Wednesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and 12:30-1:30 pm Thursday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Brandon. Rick’s early career was a television producer in Mississippi and Texas. He later worked at Centec designing and developing educational software. The last sixteen years of his career was spent as a Data Base Administrator for the Mississippi State Tax Commission and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
Rick enjoyed traveling to places of interest with his wife, Lynda, but the greatest joys of his life was spending quality time with his entire immediate family: Lynda, son, Christopher Babin, daughter-in-law, Maggie Babin, and grandson, Mac Christopher Babin. Rick played the guitar and had a lifelong love for music of all kinds. He had a photographic memory and could cite the lyrics to songs that covered a forty year period and tell you what year the song was recorded and by whom.
Other survivors include his sisters, Sharon Johnson of Tellico Village, TN and Nancy White of Coarsegold, CA; brother, James Dutton of Nebraska City, NB and a number of nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in laws.
Memorials may be sent to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 400 Grants Ferry, Brandon, Mississippi 39047.
