After many months of illness, Richard Maurice “Dick” Freibert (89) achieved his desire to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. He was born March 9, 1926 in Springdale, KY to the late Joseph A. Freibert and Amelia S. Freibert. He is also preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Raymond; his son, Timothy and daughter, Cathy Devine.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Anne Casey Freibert; their children, Terry Tramuta (Joe), Ricky Freibert (Suzan), Peggy Horton (Billy), Franz Freibert (Marcie), Tommy Freibert (Dina), Angie Nix (Chris), Chris Freibert, Anna Hairston (Buddy), Susan Slay (Tommy); his sister, Sr. Lucy Freibert, SCN; 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 58 years. He was widely known for “never meeting a stranger.” He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing Santa and volunteering with the VA Hospital, Boy Scouts of America and his church. He was an avid repairman of sewing machines, washers, dryers, cars and anything else someone may need repaired. During his lifetime, he was employed as a dairy farmer, a U.S. Army field radio equipment repairman, furniture inspector, insurance salesman, data processing manager and customer service engineer. He had great pride in his large family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Rosary service will be held at Ott & Lee in Brandon, Friday at 5:00 pm with visitation following until 8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Saturday at 10:00 am, preceded by visitation from 9:15 am to 9:45 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities.
