Richard Larry “Rick” Gorman, 72, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation is 1 pm Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2:30 pm with Rev. Allan Murphy, a longtime friend and pastor of North Shelby Baptist Church in Birmingham officiating.
Rick was a native of Georgia and a longtime resident of Brandon moving from Birmingham. He retired from medical sales after many years of service and loved to garden. Rick was member of Brandon First United Methodist Church. He was a friend of many and believed and lived the quote of Will Rogers, “A stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet.”
Survivors include his wife, Jane Bradley Gorman of Brandon; daughters, Mary Brooke Woods (Ray) of Pinson, AL, Brandi Elizabeth Guthrie of Hoover, AL and Martha Ann Fuller (Jeffrey) of Odenville, AL; sisters, Teresa Lynne Hall (David) of Fultondale, AL and Susan Elaine Kelley (Gary) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Avery Woods, Riley Woods, Brady Woods, Lee Guthrie, Ashli Davis, Christopher Davis, Ethan Fuller, Nathan Fuller and a host of nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Hayne Gorman; sister, Gloria Pilkington and son-in-law, Lee Guthrie, Jr.
