Richard John Johnson, 67, died Monday, November 10, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be held on Fri. Nov. 14, 2014 from 1:30pm-2:45pm at the Rehobeth Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS. Funeral Services are 3pm on Fri. Nov. 14, 2014 at the Rehobeth Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling the arrangements.
He was born on January 23, 1947, in Louisiana, to the late Lawrence Joseph and Alma Melanie Derenbecker Johnson. Richard is an Armed Services veteran, having honorably served in the Air Force and stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Boosier City, Louisiana, and at Goose Bay Air Force Base in Labrador. He enjoyed working on old cars and playing tennis in the local community. During a life that directly and indirectly touched many others, his greatest legacy was the loving impact that he had on his friends and family. He will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Fay Renfroe Johnson of the home; three sons, Jay Johnson (Sara) of Dallas, TX, Joshua Johnson (Denny) of Halstead, KS and Jordan Johnson of Spring, TX; five grandchildren, Ainsley, Everett, Spencer, Leigha and Adam Johnson; a brother, Larry Johnson (Charlotte) of Broken Arrow, OK; nieces and nephews, Lori Ann Still, Chuck Johnson, Chip Johnson, Erin Scallorn, Kelly Parish and Maggie Sitton; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Rehobeth Baptist Church, 446 Rehobeth Road, Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
