On Thursday, November 30, 2023, Richard (Rick) James Barnes, of Pelahatchie, MS peacefully departed for his heavenly home.
Rick was born on June 29, 1953, in Syracuse, NY. Around the age of fourteen Rick moved to Mississippi with his family. On January 3, 1985, Rick married Kimberly Ann Barnes, and the two embarked on a love story which would last one month shy of 39 years. Rick and Kim were strong partners, each complimenting the other’s strengths.
Rick was known as a hard-working man. He owned Rick’s Mobile Homes for nearly 50 years. He loved being known as the guy to call when everyone else in the business said, “That cannot be done.” Rick’s talents reached far and wide, but mobile homes, classic car rebuilds and restorations, along with doing body work and painting cars and trucks of all sizes are some of his most notable.
While Rick enjoyed a challenge and never shied away from hard work, it was his love for family and others around him that will be remembered the most. Rick and Kim dedicated countless hours by volunteering at local schools, churches, and helping others in need. Rick and Kim were a dynamic duo, and their work made an impact beyond their imagination. Rick’s legacy of loving as big as the world will live on with those he leaves behind.
Rick is survived by his wife, Kim Barnes; 3 children, Vallerie Lacey (Michael), John Barnes (Lee) and William Barnes (Jessica); sisters, Lynn Smallwood (Larry), Sherry Ranier (Jerry) and 4 grandchildren, Kaylynn Buskirk, Cole Buskirk, Michael Alan Lacey and Emma Grace Lacey. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Elwood & Harriet Sebren Barnes.
