Richard Arnold Smith, 65, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away May 30, 2017 at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with interment following at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Wednesday, May 31, 2017 and 9-10 am Thursday June 1, 2017 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Smith was born in Laurel, MS and raised in Taylorsville, MS. He was the son of Arnold P. Smith and Anna Jean Butler Smith. He is married to Sandra Thornton Smith. Mr. Smith enjoyed reading his bible, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Smith always enjoyed helping others where he could and never complained. He worked for VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS as a Pharmacist for many years before retiring in 2016. He loved his church and church family at Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Jean Butler Smith and his grandparents, Roy and Lottie Butler and Aaron and Lina Adcock Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandra Thornton Smith; son, Bradley Smith; daughter, Brandi Smith; father, Arnold P. Smith; sister, Connie Smith (Charlie) Ware; one niece, 3 nephews and a host of friends.
