Richard Toombs

Richard Harold Toombs, 72 of Brandon while surrounded by his loving family went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Visitation will be Thursday, December 23, 2021, 10am-12pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. A Graveside celebration of life will follow 12:30pm at Crestview Memorial Gardens, 1106 Star Road, Brandon, MS.

Richard was born in Harrisville, MS on October 5, 1949, to Don D. Toombs, Sr. and Lois Toombs. He was a 1969 graduate of Pearl High School and attended Belhaven College. Richard enjoyed Ole Miss football, golf, hunting, and gardening but most of all his wife, daughters and grandchildren who were the absolute love of his life. He was a long-time member of Park Place Baptist Church and had a fierce passion for mentoring youth as he shared the Gospel at many area churches in Rankin County.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherry Sibley Toombs; daughters, Renea Harrison (Josh) and Rachelle Ramsey (Josh); his grandchildren, Rylee Sojourner, Reese Stoeckmann, and Noah Ramsey; brother, Don Toombs, Jr. (Peggy); sister, Linda Sharplin (Purvis); and brother-in-law, Bob Laird. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Debbie Toombs Laird.

He will be forever missed in the lives of his family, friends, and so very many that held a special place in their hearts for him. He leaves behind a void that can never be replaced.
