Richard "Rick" Cothern Sr.

Richard "Rick" Paul Cothern, Sr., 60, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at the River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be held from 5pm.-8pm. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.
Rick was President of Cothern Computer Systems, an award-winning nationwide software and services company, which he co-founded with his brother, Allen, in 1981 in Jackson, MS. In addition to his success in business, Rick, “Pappy”, will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many.
He is survived by his wife Carol Cummings Cothern, daughter Jennifer Cothern Wilson and her husband Jason Wilson, son Paul Cothern, Jr., his father Floyd Cothern, brothers Jerry Cothern and Allen Cothern and his wife Caryll. Rick is also survived by three grandchildren, Jordan Cothern, and Raegan and Alex Wilson. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Ginn Cothern.
Rick was known as the life of the party. He never met a stranger and always had a hug and kind word for everyone. He loved helping others, whether his family and friends with the smallest of things or a stranger stranded on the road. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved working in the yard and being on the beach. His family was his first priority in life. Rick rarely missed a soccer game, baseball game, or football game in which his children or grandchildren played. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races.
