Funeral services for Mr. Rickey E. Fortenberry will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in the Harperville Memorial Park under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
Rickey Earl Fortenberry was born at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest on June 18, 1958 and passed away at his home in Forest on Sunday morning, August 20, 2017 at the age of 59.
He was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed the simple things of life, visiting with friends and family, but specifically being a “shade tree mechanic.”
He is preceded in death by his wife: Ruth Fortenberry; his father: William R. Fortenberry; one brother: Jerry Fortenberry; and two great-grandsons.
Rickey is survived by two children: Richard Paul Fortenberry and his wife, Stacy of Iowa and Rebecca Nicole Fortenberry of Lake; his mother: Beatrice Fortenberry of Forest; one brother William Lee Fortenberry, and his wife, Gail of Forest; six grandchildren: Jonathan, Allie, and Teaya Fortenberry, Summer Miller, Jeremy Crimm, and Dalton Crimm; three nieces and three nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews: Phillip and Jamie Fortenberry; his best friend and close family acquaintance: James Holifield; his cousin: Steve Lampkin; and his friends: Jerry Harrell and Randy Shoemaker.
