A native of Forest, Mississippi, Ricky Wayne Dry, was born December 20, 1948, and passed away on July 18, 2018 at the age of 69 years surrounded by his family and close friends.
A celebration of Rick’s life will begin with a visitation on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest, MS with burial at the Hillsboro Methodist Church Cemetery in Hillsboro, MS.
After graduating from Mississippi State University with a degree in accounting, Rick joined the Army as a Second Lieutenant. Once his service commitment was completed, he worked as a Revenue Agent for the Internal Revenue Service before beginning his career with The U.S. Secret Service as a Special Agent.
During his 20-year career with the U.S. Secret Service, Rick worked in the Jackson, Mississippi field office, was a part of the Presidential Protection Detail for Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan in Washington D.C., served with the Secret Service Intelligence Division in Washington D.C., then the Houston, Texas field office where he retired in 1996. During his retirement, he loved spending time with his family, his grandchild and his dog, Dolly.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra (nee VanEtten) Dry, Brandon, MS sons Jason Cory (Carrie) Dry, Meadville, MS, Matthew Brett Dry, Brandon, MS, Angela Renee (Michael) Hoegerl, Thompson Station, Tennessee, one grandchild, Riley Amber Hoegerl, one sister, Charlotte Walters and numerous nieces and nephews.
