Dr. Rita W. Nordan, 66, of Brandon, MS, passed away on Aug. 28, 2012. There will be a graveside service held at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at 2pm. There will be no public visitation. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.
Rita was born Feb. 8, 1946 in Corinth, MS, the oldest child of Creekmore B. Wright and Florence M. Wright. Rita graduated high school from Corinth High School. She received her Bachelors in Education from Blue Mountain Baptist College, her Masters and Specialist Degrees in Education from Mississippi State University, and her Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Rita spent her life dedicated to education in Mississippi for over 25 years. Rita retired as the Director of Research and Development for the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Jackie Lee Nordan; sons, Jackie Lee Nordan II of Brandon, MS and John Zackary Nordan of Brandon, MS; daughter-in-law, Leslie Brooks Nordan; grandsons, Matthew Lee Nordan, Charles Wesley Nordan and John Gabriel Nordan and her brothers, Creekmore B. Wright Jr. and William Robert Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital 2500 N. State St. Jackson, MS 39216. The family request that no pot plants be ordered.
