Robert Andy Carr, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on December 6, 2024 at Baptist Hospital. Known for his tireless work ethic, unyielding spirit, and brilliant mind, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and love for those closest to him. Visitation will be held at Ott and Lee of Forest on Wednesday from 10-1pm, with services starting at 1, followed by a graveside service at Carr Methodist Church. Rev. Gene Banes and Bro. Jerry Lewis will officiate.
Robert spent his career with the Mississippi Department of Transportation, retiring after years of committed service. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he carried the discipline and honor he learned there into every aspect of his life.
After retiring, Robert found joy in the simpler pleasures—raising cows, tending his garden, savoring a good cup of coffee with his peppermints, and the delight of a homegrown tomato.
Robert’s love for his wife, Audrey Nell Carr, was the foundation of his life. He never left her side, always quick to kiss her, hold her hand, and remind her how special she was. Their bond was truly an inspiration to all who knew them, and made them the cornerstones of their family. In August 2022, Robert faced the heartbreak of losing Nell, and though his heart ached, he continued to embody the devotion he felt for her. He has visited her graveside each day since, sitting on her memorial bench for hours at a time just to feel closer to her. They are finally reunited now, and though we are all heartbroken, this family could not be happier that they finally had their long-awaited embrace. They both have certainly earned it.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Greer Carr and Robert Franklin; his wife, Audrey Nell Carr; one grandson, Timothy Andrew Emmons; and brothers, Lonnie Carr (Jean), Billy Carr (Maudine), and Frank Carr Jr. (Bonnie).
He is survived by his three daughters: Vonoy Carr, Kathy Carr Emmons (Tim), and Mindy Carr Skinner (Rick); grandchildren: Dr. Chyanne Napp, Jacob Emmons, Zachary Emmons (Tyler), Anthony Emmons (Meg), Brandy Robinson (Dewayne), Brady Simpson (Leslie), Ashely Sampley (Alex), and Jason Skinner; great grandsons, Brantley Thorne and Sawyer Emmons; and a nephew, Donald Henry Carr.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Anthony and Zachary Emmons, Dewayne Robinson, Heath Swinson, Brady Simpson, and Daniel Napp.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Brantley Thorne, Sawyer Emmons, Jacob Emmons, and Donald Henry Carr.
The Carr family would like to extend a special thank you to Denise Jackson for all you have done, and the love you have shown Mama and Daddy all these years. You mean the world to us, and you are so appreciated.
