Robert Weatherly Campbell, 86, born July 30, 1924, passed away Wed. May 4, 2011 at the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS with his family at his side. Friends and family are invited to attend his service on Fri. May 6, 2011 at 3pm. from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home at 1360 West Government St. Brandon, MS 39042. (601)-824-6018. Visitation will be held at 2pm. prior to the service with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl, MS.

Robert was born in Kosciusko, Attala County, Mississippi to the late John B. Campbell and Sallie Kate Weatherly Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Zaida Campbell Dodson of Jackson, Mary Helen Campbell Thornton of Gulfport, Beatrice Campbell Etheridge of Poplarville, Kate Elizabeth Campbell Spencer Lockwood of Las Vegas; a brother, James Bryan Campbell of Jackson; his daughter, Bobbie Rebecca Campbell Bounds and his granddaughter, Connie Mechelle Bounds Grunblatt both of Brandon.

As an Army Air Force Corporal, Robert served in the Western Pacific Campaign during World War II.
Robert began his career with Clark-Burt Sheet Metal of Jackson. In 1959, he opened Brandon Sheet Metal and later he began his commercial roofing company, Campbell Roofing and Sheet Metal. As quality workmanship was his focus he became a charter member of the MS Roofing Contractors Association. His reputation for quality work was known throughout his career. Robert’s workers were treated with honor and respect. He was also a member of the Brandon Baptist Church.

Robert will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 68 years, Georgia Powell Campbell of Brandon; his son, Robert E. Campbell and his wife Denise of Canton; granddaughter, Lisa Bounds Halford and husband T.J. of Brandon; grandson, Robert Christopher Campbell and wife Julia of Kearney, Nebraska; his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren and Claire Campbell, and Elijah and Bobbie Grunblatt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

We wish to express our deepest appreciation to Robert’s nurses at St. Dominics’ ICU 4 west, Billy Clark and Deborah Cotton, as well as his physicians, Dr. Gene Loper and Dr. Jimmy Jones. This team showed the utmost compassion and care for Robert and our family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brandon Baptist Church Building Fund 100 Brandon Baptist Dr. Brandon, MS 39042.
