Mr. Robert L. Franklin, age 89, a resident of Leesburg passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. Visitation was held 5pm-8pm Monday, November 6, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 9am-9:45am Tuesday at Leesburg Baptist Church. Funeral services were held 10am Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Leesburg Baptist Church with burial in Leesburg Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Franklin was born in Rankin County on October 27, 1928. He loved hunting and fishing. Robert enjoyed socializing and eating with friends. He was a deacon at Leesburg Baptist Church for 50 plus years. Robert had a big heart for helping people. He always visited people in the hospitals and would attend funerals and visitations for friends and church family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Julia Thompson Franklin; parents, George Henry Franklin and Mandy Shivers; daughter, Deborah Traxler; 5 sisters, Wilma Thompson, Virginia Patrick, Arletha Denson, Louise Brooks and Katherine White; 5 brothers, Margle Franklin, Odell Franklin, Joe Kight, Gordy Kight and Kenny Kight.
He is survived by his son, Bobby Franklin and wife Nelda of Brandon; grandchildren, Miranda Ryder (James), Sheldon Traxler, Byron Traxler (Stephanie), Elizabeth Franklin, Caleb Franklin and Winston Franklin; great grandchildren Braedon Traxler, Preston Traxler and Mallone Traxler; son-in-law, Ronnie Traxler of Momence, IL.
Pallbearers were Charles Denson, Ronnie Thompson, Caleb Franklin, Winston Franklin, Glen Harrell and Leon Franklin.
The family would like to mention a very special thank you to the MS Care Center in Morton for their tremendous service to their love one and family.
