Robert Clarke “Bob” Readel, 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. A Memorial Service will be conducted at St. Mark's United Methodist Church at 400 Grants Ferry Rd., Brandon, MS 39047, on Saturday, October 27th. Visitation starts at 10 AM with the Service at 11 AM to noon. Bob will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard North, St. Petersburg, FL on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 09:00 AM.
Mr. Readel was born in Norwood, MA on May 10, 1925, to the late James Louis Readel and Ida Matilda Coleman Readel "Upon retirement, he was certified Executive Chef of the University of Rochester (NY) Faculty Club. He was inducted into the American Academy of Chefs in July, 1976. He launched his career having served during WWII as ship's cook on the Navy submarine E-10. He is a member of good standing of the Seneca Masonic Lodge No. 0797 of Webster, NY and a member of the Florida Chapter of WWII Submarine Veterans and since 2003, an active and staunch member of Tang Base of the United States Submarine Veteran Inc, Bob Readel personified those of “The Greatest Generation” with leadership, integrity and willingness to serve. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his sons, James Robert “Jim” Readel (Pam) and David Clarke Readel; grandchildren, Devin James Readel, Kevin Clarke Readel, Kelly New, Elizabeth Readel and Karen Readel; great grandchildren, Esten Readel, Adley Readel, Landon French, Allison French and Josephine Readel. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Eva D. Readel.
