Robert Maurice (Bob) Logan, age 92, a resident of Scott County passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, MS.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Forest, MS with interment to follow at the Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26 and Thursday, January 27 from 12 noon until the service.
Mr. Logan was born October 20, 1918 to Z. J. and Viola Logan in Lawrence, MS. He served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa in World War II and operated a general merchandise store in Lake, Mississippi until 1984. He was a member of Lake United Methodist Church where he served as an adult Sunday School teacher. He was a former member of the Board of Aldermen, the Lake School Board, the Scott County Board of Education, and the Mississippi State Senate. He was a graduate of Newton High School and earned a B. A. degree from the University of Mississippi.
Mr. Logan had a lifelong enthusiasm for politics, sports, church and community and provided advice and encouragement to his family when they would listen. He was also a cattleman and former correspondent for the Lake Messenger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Thomas Glen and Joe Logan.
Mr. Logan is survived by his wife of 62 years Louvenia Morgan Logan, Lake, MS; four children, Betty L. Kelly (Robert) of Lake, MS, Robert M. Logan, Jr. (Michelle) of Newton, MS, Diane L. McMillan (Bruce) of Forest, MS and Glenn Logan (Myra) of Lake, MS; eleven grandchildren Amanda Skinner (Mike), Laura McMillan, Rebecca Scribner (Sean), Megan Bounds (Daniel), Zack Logan, Steven Kelly, Marcia Grant (Marty), Jeffrey Logan, Madeline Logan, Kasey Logan and Carrie Logan; and four great-grandchildren Aubrie and Anna Claire Skinner and Savannah and Nathan Scribner.
Pallbearers will be Jo Jo Logan, Zack Logan, Steven Kelly, Jeffrey Logan, Daniel Bounds and Marty Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Skinner and Sean Scribner.
