Robert Lloyd (Bob) North, 85, passed away peacefully Monday, May 16, 2016. He was born on September 2, 1930, and spent his formative years in Waring, Texas. He was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS. After High School, he enlisted and served in the Navy, on the USS Bennington and the USS Bon Homme Richard, aircraft carriers, during the Korean War. Following his service, he continued his education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) where he received the award Alumnus of the Year and graduated with a Marketing and Journalism degree. He worked in Pharmaceutical Sales during his career, and retired from A H Robbins, and received many accolades. He was an avid outdoorsman, was a member of many deer camps, and taught many youngsters Hunting Safety. He coached little league baseball and Babe Ruth baseball for many years, and was loved by his players. He was elected Alderman and served on the Brandon City Council. He taught his children “The Three Rs” Respect, Responsibility, and Religion, and was always patriotic. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Brandon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol Miller North, his son, Jeff North of Madison, his daughter, Jan Kirkland Hogue (Charlie) of Madison, and his three grandsons, John Hartley North, Craig Howard Kirkland, Jr., and Robert Clayton Kirkland, a sister in-law, Inez Taylor, two nephews, Mac and Tom Miller, and his beloved Beagle, and faithful companion, Tippy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Zoeller Pepper.
Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, on Tuesday, May 17th from 5 until 7pm. The funeral will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 18th at Ott & Lee Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
