Robert Burns "R.B." Andrews

Graveside services for Mr. Robert Burns “R.B.” Andrews will be conducted Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Lodebar Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.


Visitation will be Monday, September 19, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the funeral home.


Mr. Andrews was born October 1, 1924 at Sebastopol, to his parents: the late Robert and Alma Burns Andrews. He passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland at the age of 91.



At an early age his family moved to Pelahatchie, where R.B. grew up. He graduated from Cross Roads Public School and attended Hinds Junior College training in vocational work.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the 515th Paratroop Division where he spent some time in Europe. He also marched in the Victory Parade in New York City with the 82nd Airborne Division.


After the war, he went to work for The Wearever Aluminum Company, Jackson City Lines, and The Union Fork and Hoe Company where he retired, August 1, 1976. He was a retired member of the Pelahatchie Vol. Fire Department, a scout master and a member of the American Legion, Post 171 at Pelahatchie. He enjoyed NASCAR races and was an avid sportsman, specifically, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of Jackson Primitive Baptist Church.


He is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: T.W. Andrews, Billy Andrews, Josie Grantham, and Evie Balko.


Survivors include his wife of over 65 years: Betty Frances Harpe Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post #171.


Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Bush, Will Bush, Steve Bush, Kenneth Harpe, Freddie Rowell, Ryan Rowell, Bubba Flanigan, James Till, and Mike Kelly.
