Mr. Sam Fortenberry, age 79, a resident of Morton passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.  A Private Family Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 from 9am-10am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  There will also be a public visitation (for 10 at a time) at Line Creek Baptist Cemetery from 11am-11:45am.  Graveside services will be held at 12 noon at Line Creek Baptist Cemetery with burial to follow.  Bro. Tal Vardaman will officiate the services.

Sam was born in Scott County on June 17, 1940.  He enjoyed working in the yard and wood working and building things.  Sam was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church.  He was a Salesman in the Tire business for many years and  in his later years he retired from J&J Tire Service.  He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wrighty E. Fortenberry, Sr. and Mary Ailene Lindsey Fortenberry; step sons, Patrick & Patton Courtney.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Fortenberry of Morton; children, Lorrie Westbrook (Randy) of Brandon, Jennifer Nowlan (Chris) of Pearl and Christopher Fortenberry (Misty) of Madison; step son, Peyton Courtney (Cassie) of Morton; brother, Jr. Fortenberry (Erma) of Pelahatchie; 15 grandchildren; 7great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Courtney, Daygon Williams, Brent Bowman, Scott Fortenberry, Stephen Smith and Joseph Yelverton.   Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Wallace, Buddy Johnson and Tony Beeland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Line Creek Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 1862 Rocky Creek Rd., Morton, Ms 39117.
