Roland Hugh Anderson

Roland Hugh Anderson, 86, entered the Lord’s presence on April 9, 2024. He left this world surrounded by his loving family.

Roland was born February 26, 1938, in Brandon, Mississippi to James and Margie Anderson. He was a good southern boy who loved the south and his home state.

He graduated from Brandon High School in 1956, one year before his future wife graduated. Roland received his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University in 1973.

He married his high school sweetheart June Jordan on March 28, 1959. The two were not only soulmates but were also best friends for sixty-five years. They had one son, Mark.

Roland worked at Safe Harbour Marina as a boat mechanic and also as a service manager for many years. A puzzle-lover at heart, he enjoyed the challenge of figuring out the unique problems on each boat and fixing them.

His love of puzzles extended to his home life, and he regularly did the crossword puzzles in the Clarion Ledger, or attempted to. Roland had a generous heart and was always willing to help family and friends with any mechanical issues, whether boat- or car-related. He also faithfully attended Park Place Baptist Church with his wife for many decades.

Roland is survived by his wife June Anderson; his son Mark Anderson; his daughter-in-love Elizabeth Anderson; his two grandchildren, Caleb and Christine Anderson; his two sisters, Barbara (Shelby) Colson and Maxine (Aubrey) Nolan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Anderson and Margie Anderson and his brothers, Junior (Frances) Anderson, Bobby (Betty) Anderson, Jerry (Anne) Anderson, Carlton (Jean) Anderson, and Elton (Mollie) Anderson.

A funeral will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be on the same day from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Gardens.
