Ronald B. Thomas, age 81, a longtime resident of Forest, died Sunday, March 22, 2020, in Meridian following an extended illness.
The family will announce a Visitation and a Memorial service at a later date to be held at the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Mr. Thomas was born on Tuesday, April 5, 1938, in Jackson, MS to his parents, Mitchell Thomas and Marie Saway Thomas. He and his family-owned and operated the Thomas Great M Store in Forest for over 50 years when the store closed in 1982. He also worked in retail sales for Dr. Lowrey Huff, DPM before his retirement. He was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Forest. He was active in his church and also was a member of the Forest Kiwanis Club. He loved Forest and enjoyed making the community a better place. He loved his family, visiting with friends and especially Notre Dame football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bobby Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of over 49 years, Cecelia Thomas, two daughters, Mary Beth Thomas of Forest and Tina Thomas of Jackson, Ms. He also leaves behind 1 sister, Marie Beard (Jerry) of Ridgeland, MS 2 brothers, Dennis Thomas of Jackson, MS and Mitchell Thomas (Anita) of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind his “best friend” of over 14 years...Gipper, his golden retriever. Everyone knew how much he loved his dog. Not only will Mr. Thomas be missed by all who knew and loved him, but Gipper will also miss him too.
