Ronald Dale “Ron” Baker, 53, of Lubbock, TX; formerly of Brandon, MS, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Lubbock. Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2012 from 9:30 am until 11 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11 am from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Brandon Memorial Gardens.
Ron was born on February 6, 1959 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Jerry Earl Baker and Martha Root Baker. He was a 1977 graduate of Brandon Academy and a 1981 graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson, MS. He was an Eagle Scott and played baseball with Belhaven College. He was a Presbyterian.
He had worked as an accountant in medical benefits for the City of Austin, TX, for four years.

Survivors include his mother, Martha Root Baker of Brandon, MS; his sister, Pam Baker Varner and her husband, Keith of Brandon, MS; his brother, Chris Baker and his wife, Karen of Boca Raton, FL; two nephews, Josh Varner and Dylan Varner; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Camper Scholarship Fund at Twin Lakes Conference Center, 155 Milner Rd., Florence, MS 39073.
Ron's nephew Dylan has served as a counselor at Twin Lakes which is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church. The purpose of the camp is to provide a fun, outdoor environment where children can learn to glorify God in every area of their life. Scholarships expand this opportunity to children that cannot afford to attend. Ron would be pleased to know that his passing provided an opportunity to bring some children closer to God and enrich their lives.
