Roxanne Rogers Reece
Brandon, MS
Roxanne Rodgers Reece received her diamond studded angel wings July 9, 2016.
Roxanne, a light so bright. A soul so giving and kind. To say she lit up the room would be an understatement…she WAS the room. At home in any crowd because she didn’t believe in labels. Her eyes were shining stars that would chase your fears away. A smile that warmed your soul and my God those dimples…they were completely infectious. She never met a stranger and brought out the best in everyone. From the first day you met Roxanne, you wanted to be a little more like her. She lived life like you always wished you could. She would often say, “People need to stop being scared and live”! And that’s just what she did. She lived for others as much as for herself. From the soup kitchen, to her ladies prayer group, to all of her wonderful clients, she had a servant’s soul and couldn’t rest until you were warmed with laughter. She lived for her friends, her family, her husband and she lived for her sweet Ruby. Being a mother to Ruby defined her. Her proudest accomplishment.
Her style was impeccable and she, the only one who could pull it off. As comfortable in eight inch platforms and feathers as she was in a cocktail dress. Roxanne would carry the load to ease the burdens of a stranger. Often saying, “Don’t worry about the mule baby, you just load the wagon!” She was graceful, she was tough, she was tender, she was beautiful, she was friend, she was sister, she was daughter, she was wife, and she was mother. She was everything to us. Fly high sweet Rox because like you always said, “The higher the hair, the closer you are to Jesus”!
Roxanne is survived by her husband, Shawn; daughter, Ruby; sons, Oliver and A.J.; mother, Vera (Skip); her father, Randy (Lucy); her sister and brother in law, Dawn and Chris May; her niece, Maggie; her nephew Tyler; grandmother, Christine Johnson; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A visitation of family and friends will start at 1pm today at The South Warehouse, 627 E. Silas Brown, Jackson, MS with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3:30pm.
